Starting pc by shorting PWR header pins

I have a problem that I think might be to do with my front panel power switch. I have heard that it is possible to short the correct header pins marked pwr and something else momentarily and the pc should start. Could someone explain exactly what to do, is it the pins that are actualy on the mb, if so which ones? I have found online the docs for the motherboard that show the front panel pin makeup, but not too sure which ones.http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=instr_columbiagx_jumpers&ppn=p700401801
The front panel layout is near the bottom of the doc.
 
just touch the 2 pins under the power switch (3rd pair from the left ( ::|:|:::::: pair surronded by ||)) header together on the front panel connectors.

Don't worry you can systematically short pairs until it powers on if you can't find the right pair
 
Thanks for that, still a bit worried though, but I am basically carefully touching the 2 pins (on the mb) with a screwdriver when there is power to it!! Should I wear rubber gloves, how safe is it? :eek:
 
Rubber gloves?? Haha, come on, there's not going to be THAT much voltage going though those little jumpers! I've run screw drivers along front pannel connectios until I found what cut the computer one. It's not my common practice to do so, but it does work.
 
Yeah no worries, the easiest ground is back through the board not through the screwdriver handle and you.
