Starting up Problems

For a couple of a weeks now my mums Laptop is taking about 7-8 minutes to go from powering on to being able to be used. the main problem is the internet features on it as the desktop icons load but the Internet icon stays red for ages and the Vista sidebar takes ages to load. Then when she gets on to the Internet and tries open a web page sometimes it will open the correct page and sometimes a random page. The only major changes she has made in that time frame is install spy sweeper and update bittorrent to version 7.2.

I have tried to disable a lot of the start up programs and run a virus scan and a system restore and the Laptop has fairly high specs. So any help will be greatly appreciated.

Spybot Search and Destroy is a really good free program, to get rid of items that slow the system down. Do a Google search and download it, make sure you get the real Spybot other sites try to sidetrack you when searching for it.

use iobit toolbox 1.1 the startup selector in it is very good, and id def get rid of vista sidebar !
