Rerun hijackthis and place checks next to the following entries and you can stop them from running at bootup.

Then click on fix checked at the bottom.
 
on system startup, the programs that start with the computer are (most of the time) not needed. if you want to run a program just run it, there isnt a need to have it start with the computer, it just makes the computer take longer to start up. I always disable startup items with a few exceptions. I leave my antivirus program running during startup (Microsoft Security Essentials in my case) and if my computer uses and wireless manager (such as intel pro/wireless) i usually leave that running also. everything else i turn off.

on xp: click Start>Run type msconfig and press enter. choose the startup tab and click Disable all then click ok. (you can choose to restart now or later, your choice)
on vista/7: click the Windows logo and type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom and press enter. choose the startup tab and click Disable all then click ok. (you can choose to restart now or later, your choice)
