I'm guessing its my vid card i have a Xfx 4850. And a asus 21.5 hd monitor. If you need all my specs then click on my name and go to statistics and click on this is the final set. . Ok, lets start from the basics. Do you have the power connector attached to the video card, and do you get any post beep codes when you push the power button?

Yes i have the power connected to the video card, the only thing is, i get a red light on the video card when the computer powers up.... so i dont know what i did wrong and no i dont get any beeps on startup

Have you looked in your manual to see what the red light indicates? I was going to check but apparently you have to register an XFX product before they'll let you get the manual or anything.

Did you put the standoffs under the board in all the right places. Did you plug in the 4X4/8 pin CPU power connector?

I've looked through all manuels and nothing says what the red light is could it be the mobo or monitor?

Also, you have connected the monitor cable to the port nearest the motherboard correct? When you push the power button what happens, do fans spin up/etc? PLus just to verify, the correct pci-e connector is connected to the video card right? It should be a 6pin connector on the rear of the card.

Its not going to boot to anything if you dont have any kind of operating system installed, have you tried to install the os yet?

No when i turn it on it goes to a gigabyte screen and gives me the option to go post screen and some others then the screen goes black and says windows cannot start because of a hard disk configuration please refer to the hdd manuel it didnt come with a manuel so i'm not sure what to do

mmk, thats what i thought but i'll check again, i have 90 days to get the hard drive replaced so thats not a problem

Also, check your boot order, etc. Do you have an exact message that windows is popping up? That could also be helpful;)

This is a Gigabyte board right. Just start tapping F12 when its first booting. The Boot Order screen should pop up. The just pick the CD/DVD drive that you have your XP cd in.

If not then, go into your bios and make sure your Sata ports are set to Native mode.
