Starving Student "Gaming" Desktop

Hi Computer Forum,

I write today in hope of acquiring some knowledge in an area I have little. Presently, my roommate and I have decided we will be buying two new desktops to support our moderate gaming needs. This, however, has posed a problem as we are ill informed on where to start and who to trust. Therefore, I am instilling my trust unto this form to treat us well.

Now, here's the hitch, we are starving students on a budget, looking for the best bang for our buck. Realistically our budgets are only going to be $500-$700 tax in Canadian, Eh! Is this possible?, for moderate gaming or for our current endeavour Diablo 3 without lag on medium.

We have looked at some desktops, but again don't know our left from right in this field, even though we've tried to decipher the tech talk and specs on this forum.

Is this a possible buy for us?

Again, we are looking for something cheap, but reliable (isn't everyone?). Hopefully, someone can come to our aid. We are willing to eat canned beans for month if we can capitalize on our gaming experience.

I appreciate anyone's input and do apologize if this is mob spammed question.

If you decide on the setup that's there on the site. It will cost a total of 625$ not sure if its Canadian.

But yeah it will play Diablo3 on medium and leaves room for upgrades :)
 
Okay, With that computer, I would say go for a GPU upgrade to the Geforce Gt 630 and you will be much happier. It will bring the price to $656 and be far better than the HD 6450 that it had. Should be somewhere near to the GTX550ti performance wise.
 
Are Cyberpower pc's reliable? I've read a few reviews on newegg that have said they don't even start up? Any concerns I should have?
 
Really, you should deffinatly build. Really, really build. Their sysytems are okay, but deffinatly not the best you can get prebuilt, much less custom built. Custom built that price will get you a diablo 3 max settings PC with higher quality components.
 
at 650 you are not going to get anything better from dell or the other big names. That is guaranteed.

But as said, If he don't want to build its a good system.
 
So What would my best bet be for building a computer for 600 Canadian taxes in? Is this possible ? I'm not tech savvy and really don't know if I could even build a computer, are there places you can go to get someone to put you one together? Or COULD I possibly do it myself?
 
If you are literate and know how to use a electric socket and a screwdriver, then you can build one. 99% of it is just plugging things into the right socket. I do not even think it is possible to plug 99% of it into anything but the right socket. Like you can not put the RAM in the CPU hole, or the CPU into the GPU socket. most of it is common sense.
 
If nothing could go wrong on a pc build, we wouldn't have a forum to ask questions about it haha! 650 is kind of a challenge but I think you could get a decent parts list with it. If it were much lower i'd say to try your luck with a resold pre-built, even though I really don't trust them. If you really are uncomfortable building or just don't have the environment to do it, you could take the parts to a shop or have one come over and assist you. The last guy I called said $50 for labor was his deal, though depending on the place it may be more. You have options.
