Static Tips

Do I really need a wristband? How often should I touch my PSU (Oo-er missus), do certain types of clothing make lots of static?

Also, I know things like stone and wood are ok work surfaces, how about faux wood flooring?

you don't need a wristband.

Any surface is fine to work on, except metal.

Just touch the case often.

Don't worry about your clothes.

Good, that's the sort of thing I wanted to here. Why are some pc building guides so zealous about the static thing? I felt that I could probably go without one, was just making sure. Someone told me I would ideally work naked to build my pc, however, I always do things in the house naked, unless I'm wearing my rubber g-string. (joking.)

And by case, do you mean the PC case or the PSU case?

Braclets are cheap, and why take a chance when it is that easy. Why not err on the side of caution. It isn't essential but it's easy considering the consequences.

The most you would/should pay is 10 dollars and for how much you are spending I think its a good precaution.

yeah after 4.99 shipping haha

It would be really funny to fry a $300 CPU just because you didn't think it was necessary to spend $5.98 an a wrist band. It wouldn't matter how much shipping is, as long as your not forcing your self to spend 50 time what the wrist band cost.
