Steam? free australia download?

(to Australian's on Computerforum who use steam)
Well basically i surfed looking at how much Dirt 2 installation was since i got the game free with my xfx 5850 here is the link: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1063046 look @ smokindan50's post.

If I'm with optus and i downloaded steam everything and its default download setting: DSL/Cable 2mb, Region: Australia-NSW(Telstra). Does that mean i don't have to worry about using up my limited download? i only have 15 gig's and its kinda like little lol, so i was just wondering if i would be able to if i'm with optus and download the games using telstra region setting (it was on defult) free?

Even though i was on telstra and it defaulted to that settings downloaidng stuff still used my data... there's no way to avoid it.

You could always get someone who ahs the game on steam to burn you a backup copy, then you can load it onto your computer, updating it and using the key you got with the 5850
 
aaa that fails. thanks for the info, i'll see if i'm friend could use my steam acc to download it and just back it up on a dvd and i hope it works cause its 10 gb game O.O
 
Optus don't do uncounted downloads. IIRC it's only iiNet and TPG that do. It sucks, as I'm on Optus cable as well.
 
my friend has 100 gb downloads per month form tpg adsl2 makes me wanna go for it

no no they have a 100gb round the clock plan and a 50g/50g off/on peak o.o and is it slow? didn't know that thanks for the heads up
 
yea i understand might need to double check tpg, but my friend said they have bad support which is a let down as well :X
