Steam Question

Hey, I'm looking for this one thread, I have no idea which one it is cuz it was a while ago, but I was talking about how to add non - Steam games to Steam and still have Steam display what game it is. Regularly it will say the username playing "a non-steam game" but someone posted on how to add games and have steam display the name.

If anyone knows, please share with me. :D

Thanks.

some games will have it say playing <game> anyway, but if it doesn't then once it is in the steam list then right click the game and click create desktop shortcut. Whenever you play the game if you click the shortcut on the desktop it will say playing <shortcut name>

bare in mind though some games it won't work at all, but 99% of games will work without the shortcut or after you have put the shortcut there, and all will always say non-steam game to the player, so for example i have final fantasy 8 on my list, if i play it it says non-steam game but to everyone else it says deccy is playing Final Fantasy VIII

=EDIT=

after reading fatback's response and then rereading the op, i realised you meant how to add non-steam games :P

go to the games tab with your list of games and below the list it has add non-steam game and activate a product on steam. Guess which one is for adding a non-steam game :P

If the game isn't in the list you can go browse and then find the exe of the game

Open steam then go to the games tab at the bottom there is a button that is labeled Add non-steam game... Click that and look threw the list for you game if you can't find it click the browse button and look for it some times it is hard to find but with some searching you will find it eventually.

I hope this is what you where talking about if not sorry
