Steam question

Hi guys.

Got my mate coming over tonight with his computer, gonna upgrade his gpu from onboard to a 8500gt & stock mobo to a PSB Deluxe and add an freezer 7 so I can OC his e1400..

Will probably reinstall the OS once all thats done and then have a match of L4D on my and his computer.

What I want to know is, Instead of having to redownload L4D to his system which will waste about an hour, could I just copy over my L4D folder in the steam appcache like I usually do for my system.

Would this work? Or are there any attachments to my account? I know you cant play 1 game on 2 steam accounts, He has bought the game, just wondering if this a workable way to save time?

Thanks

He should be able to back up his l4d game from his steam account to cd's. Just right click on the game and go to backup.

I think it should be enough to just copy over the *.gcf files from the */Steam/steamapps folder. Starting Steam should then set everything up properly. The .gcf file is a "Game Cache File", so it should only contain the game files that are distributed to everyone.

As for account settings there should be a folder with your account name in the same steamapps folder, which should contain your settings per game.
