Just a question for those more knowledgeable then I..

As far as download speeds go on Steam, I'm currently downloading Skyrim and I'm getting 1.4-1.9MB/s

Is this a good speed for Steam? Are the downloads capped at a certain rate?

I have a 75MB service where I am now..

Any enlightenment is appreciated
 
have you configured steam to let it know your dl rate? if you go into settings and go to download, see if its configured to (i think its 10mb for the highest one) the best connection it says.

See if that helps.
 
I've got a 10MB connection at home and 20MB connection at work. That speed is what I normally get at either place.
 
You may want to check what the "Download Region" is set as (in the "Downloads+Cloud" tab in settings). For example during last year's Summer Sale people in Scandinavia could get better download speeds by switching to a different download region (for example to Ukraine). And it may have been set to a region that is very far away.
