I have a stereo woofer and about eight satellite speakers I obtained for free as a gift from the owner of a Comfort Inn in Conway after a contract remodel, but no receiver.

Is there any way I can set up these speakers to work properly on my PC? What would need to happen in order to do so, if it is indeed possible? Thanks guys.

You'd need a receiver and a sound card with an optical-out.

And I suppose there really isn't a cost-effective way to externally run a sound card outside of my D620?

Nope. Only other thought is to get a cheap receiver, plug all the speakers in, then use an aux cable to connect your D620 to the receiver, and set the receiver to play out of all channels, but then it would only be like 2.0/2.1 out of all the speakers.

Not even through the D620's docking station with a pci sound card? :D

I mean, I guess that would work.
