still dont get size issue

i have heard that i cannot just take out my geforce 5200 and put in an agp geforce 6800 they have the same bus 8x and everything y will it not work?
 
the 5200 is AGP X4 i think, and the 6800 is AGP X8. if the 5200 works, the 6800 will almost definitely work, assuming its not DOA
 
sorry elmarco, its not 4x, i have an 8x version in my comp right now, i have never heard about that 6800 problem, i will keep a look out about it.
 
its not too hard to get. you can check to see if your motherboard's AGP is 4x or 8x in the bios. some are 4, some are 8, most are both. agp 4x/8x . for a x8 card to work you must have 8x/4x agp. check your bios. its not difficult at all.

MY old graphics card ws X8 AGP and my old motherboard was X4 AGP,it worked fine in it
 
^^ ya but it ran at AGP 4x. thats not working fine, but ok, it worked. i diddnt say it wouldnt, honest typo leaving out the 4x.

and as i said, in most games, there was about a 3 fps difference
 
8x AGP cards SUPORT AGP 8x, but they dont require it. So if its an AGP 8x card, and your motherboard only has AGP 2x/4x, it will work, just at 4x or 2x depending what you tell it to do.

that's probably not too far off, so i dont know what your laughing about. The difference between the 8x and 4x is not that great, and current graphics card still dont use all the bandwidth afforded them.
The diff between 8x and 4x is not like the difference between 2x and 4x which was more noticable.
