stock intel cooler

i want to know if i can take the fan of a stock cooler? so i can get all the dust out of the heat sink.
if so how do i do it

Usually you can take the fan off of the heat sink (pending on type) and then just blow the heatsink with canned air...

or do you want to remove the whole heatsink to administer the cleaning?

This might seem stupid but i just wanted to be clear before we go and give you directions.

no i do not want to take the heat sink off, just the fan.
i cant find canned air anywhere but a paint brush has always done the job for me.
