*** stop 0x00000024 not sure what is wrong here?

*** stop 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x25A5570, 0xC00001020, 0x00000000) appeared on a blue screen when i start my computer up and i have no idea what the problem is or how i can fix it. if anyone can help it would be much apresheated
 
You will be required to do a checkdisk on your system but how to do it all depends on if you can boot into windows or not and if you have the OS install cd handy?
 
Well when the windows operating system starts to load that is when the blue screen comes up. This means that i can go to the setup or the boot menue but nothing elce. Also the computer i got didnt come with the oporating system cd.
 
What happens, when you try to boot to safe mode?

Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

if i use safe mode the same thing will happen
and i cant boot from a cd becouse i dont have the cd, do you know where i could get one

oh and its a Dell Dimension 8400

You would need to contact dell to see if they still have reinstallation cd's available for that model as its an old system.
 
0x00000024 error usually indicate some hardware problem, possibly hard drive issue.

What do you mean, you don't have CD?
You don't have CD drive, or you don't have blank CD disk?
 
i was told by dell that the only thing that they could do was send a man to repare the pc and it would cost £200 so i told them it wasnt worth it
 
what operating system are you running?

What file system is your hard drive in?

If you aren't sure, go to my computer, single left click your C:\ drive and it will say at the bottom. It will be either NTFS, FAT or FAT32

The £200 thing from dell is a load of crap, you can fix it yourself for free in no time

Yeah that errors generally related to HDD problems. I got a very similar error when trying to install windows XP onto a SSD.

If your current HDD is getting old, I think you should consider buying a new one and trying that. If it isn't the problem you'll still have a new shiny HDD:D.
