***STOP:0x0000007B Error - not sure what do?!?!

Hi Guys

So i was trying to install a fresh copy of XP on my desktop last night and now i get this blue screen with the error ***STOP:0x0000007B (0xF8981524, 0x0000034, 0x0000000, 0x0000000)

I'm really not sure how to fix this, from research on forums it seems to be because my drivers for the hard drive aren't set up properly. I have the original floppy with the drivers but I'm not sure how to install them from this screen. I cant boot up windows so how can I get over this blue screen?

I have checked BIOS and its set up to boot from floppy first, CDROM second and HD third.

Please let me know anything I should try.

Before getting to the Blue Screen I can see at the bottom of the screen a message to press F6, I think this would solve my issue since I have the drivers on my floppy but whenever I press or hold F6 nothing happens.
 
First of all what motherboard or computer are you trying to install XP onto? Unless the bios is set to raid or ahci, you won't need those drivers. It's possible you have a memory failure.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I have a ABIT AN7 motherboard, the PC was made from different parts a few years ago, but I have never had a memory issue before.

EDIT: the floppy i have with drivers is actually an ABIT floppy, it has their sticker on it and its called the SATA driver disk...i remember when we first got the PC there was an issue with the Hard Disk not being recognized while installing XP and i think the floppy helped but im not sure how to use it in this situation.

When the install starts up, press the F6 button, at this point it won't do anything, after a while it will stop loading drivers and ask for specific driver. This is when you insert the floppy drive and follow the prompts. You don't want the raid or ahci driver, you just want to load the sata controller driver.
 
It could be faulty RAM, motherboard, power supply or a hard drive. Pull out the RAM modules one at a time and then try running the system. You can also try running a Memtest86+ scan for over two hours.

I would also try hooking up your present hard drive to another working machine and then doing a scan on the drive. If it finds any errors the drive is likely bad.

For me i press the F6 button, its searching for drivers but it never stops to ask for a specific one, it just says Setup is starting windwos, and the blue screen error comes up. Any other ideas?
 
Then your fkeys are not active. Do you have an F-lock button on your keyboard? Is this a usb keyboard and do you have legacy usb enabled in the bios? You may have to use a ps/2 keyboard.

Alright, i just used a ps/2 keyboard and it works! Well...it got me to the next page anyways. Now i get the "Please Insert the disk labeled Manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk into Drive A: * Press ENTER when Ready". I have inserted the floppy and pressed enter but after it searches for about 30 seconds or so, it comes back to this same page. what else can i try?

with this keyboard i can now boot back to windows home, is there something is should do here before installing a fresh copy of XP?

Then it must not recognize any drivers on the disk or the floppy disk is damaged. Try access the floppy via my computer on another system and see if there are any files listed.

alright, tired that, but its not working. as soon as it booted up i got another blue screen error, 0000077, its also about hardware not configured correctly. now the issue is that i dont have any other PC i can try the floppy in, only 2 laptops. so what else can i do? should i attempt that slipstream with the drivers to the XP cd? i am somewhat scared to do this as i dont want to screw up the XP cd in any way
 
Either slipstream or make another floppy. You won't ruin your existing copy of windows as you'll be making a new one with the drivers included. Check the bios and make sure the sata controller isn't set to raid.

this is the biggest issue for me, i cant seem to find where you select sata controller. I have looked under every menu and i cant seem to find this section. i will try a new floppy at work tomorrow, and then try slipstream...i will update here when i can.

Usually under integrated peripherals or devices. Some computer don't have the controller option especially store bought pc's (brand names).

hey i tried looking under integrated peripherals, i have the following options....i cant see raid as a selected option nor can i see it under any of the other options.

is it under these options? i could just not be noticing it since its not saying RAID and im kind of a noob.

i havent had a chance to look at that floppy as i dont have a floppy pc anymore, gotta find a friend with a floppy drive.

im going to try slipstreaming the drivers but im not sure what drivers to get. would it just be the SATA drivers for the ABIT AN7 motherboard?

Do you still have the motherboard cd? If so, then there should be an option under the utilities perhaps to make an F6 floppy driver disk. I know with Asus motherboards you can either boot to the cd to create the floppy or access the utility menu on cd and make it that way.

oo man, i found the option, so now i gotta still install the drivers. i tried with the floppy ( i have two) but its not reading whats on the floppys. damn, these have been sitting in a case for over 2 years and i havent touched them but they arent working. i guess i will try to slipstream the drivers to a cd i guess.

**EDIT: cant seem to boot from the motherboard CD, but now i can get into my XP. so im going to try to see if there is anything on the floppy.
