Storage device connected

My Gateway laptop keeps giving me the message "Storage device connected. If this is a port multiplier......." when there is nothing connected. I see from other forums that this is common with laptops but can't find a solution specific to Gateway. I suspect it is a result of someone improperly removing a device? Now it won't read the cards from my cameras so I can't upload any photos.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest Restarting the computer (or laptop) and then see if it will take cards, others.

If such does not work I would recommend calling the company of the card(s), computer(s) [or laptop(s)] or whatever and ask them for assistance.

But I believe Restarting your computer [or laptop] may work I am not sure though.

it happen to me on my both unit in my case i detected i have virus in .vbs that disable my USB port in Registry and i fix my registry and the usb port is working fine and no storage devices pop up.

maybe if your unit can detect your camera but cant read it may it i has virus.

but if your unit cannot detect the camera or other usb or SD drive maybe it has defective drive slot.
