Storing a HDD

One of the best ways for storing any hard drive is to seal it up in an esd bag away from moisture and the elements. Any automobile is subject to some rather varying temperature changes depending on where you are. Too cold and certainly not Too hot are ill advised. Remember since a hard drive is a magnetic storage medium keeping away from electrical and electronic devices as well as magnetic sources is something to consider as well.

With an extra drive lying aound here I usually slip it into an antistatic bag from a video card or other device large enough and store in a retail carton a video or sound card comes in out of harm's way. You don't want to put it where it can fall off from somewhere. That will destroy a drive faster then any number of things. As for the avatar that took some time in trying to match it up. Who knows maybe I'll get another one again. :P
