Strange battery behavior

Battery appears to be fully charged when connected to AC supply but as soon as the AC supply is removed it suddenly drops down to 90% and from there everything is normal. I've seen stuff similar to that, but this one doesnt seems to be very normal.
 
How old is the laptop and do you normally let it drop to 5% then charge it to 100% most of the time?
 
Fixed .. I removed the battery, uninstalled it, placed it again, let it reinstall by itself and now its working fine. Souds like a problem with OS drivers or it can be hardware because I was charging it before on a UPS ( uninterrupted power supply )?
 
I don't understand the hole let it reinstall itself? A battery doesn't reinstall any drivers to my knowledge??? ...
