Strange BSOD

Literally just happened. I was browsing the internet and my computer gave me a BSOD. The strange thing about it was that it had lines of colours horizontally across the screen for a split second, then the screen went black, and then the BSOD appeared and said it was dumping stuff or whatever it normally says. I couldn't get an error code because it happened so fast. Is there anyway to figure out what caused this? I know my computer is pretty old, and I'm actually hoping to build a new rig with Skylake this Christmas, but the BSOD is a very rare occurrence of my PC indeed. Cheers!

Sounds like a video driver or card issue. Run bluescreenview so we can get a description.

Download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

I had this happen year ago on a Toshiba Satellite laptop... it was the GPU dying.. days later the machine was toast!
