Strange Graphics malfunction on my computer..any ideas?

this just started happening out of nowhere. it happens on all my screens including my dos boot up screen

please see the photos attached

any suggestions at all would be really appreciated

my System:

win xp
Matrox P650 dual DVI video card
120GB SATA for audio and one for OS
3.4 GHz Intel P4
4 gb ram

i only have 1 monitor hooked up...i know its not the monitor because i plugged in a different one and it did the same thing.

please help me out

Yeah, that's definetly not the monitor. I feel nearly 100% sure it's just a failing video card. Do you have a spare you could just check in there?
 
no i dont have a spare video card...i just got the thing its brand new...think it could be broken?
 
Oh, that's nice... Yeah, that would be my thought. If it's new, try and exchange it and see if the problem still occurs.
 
are you sure your drivers are installed right? if you have than try rolling back to an earlier version

this is of cource after youve checked to be sure its your card or if you cant exchange it
 
Could also be an incompatibilty issue.

Had the same thing happen to me with an old FX5200 128MB 128Bit PCI card and a VIA K8M8MS Motherboard.

Would be worth having a google to see if anyone else has the same problems with that card.
 
This is just a guess but maybe it has to do with the GART settings.... I had my video card give me problems when I messed with the SMARTGART settings.....
