Evening guys, I hope you can help me as Ive been a little bit weirded out lately by the noises that my Acer Aspire 5733Z has been making. Every now and then (one or twice daily) for the last few days its been making a clicking sound which sounds very similar to typing. When I first heard it I was on facebook and I assumed it maybe an adverb playing a typing sound through my speakers but since then it has happened when I have had no windows open and even when booting up the computer on the black screen (when Ive literally just pressed the power button). The concern is obviously that its some kind of spyware since the noise does sound very much like typing. I caught it happening just then and pulled up my volume meter to see if the sound registers on the speaker output but it doesnt which I would imagine is slightly reassuring? So does what do you think? Ive ran multiple anti virus programs and they havent raised concerns and Ive started to question if it could be the hard drive. It comes from the left hand side of the computer (away from the cd drive) near where the power cord is inserted. Again the factor that wouldnt be consistent with this is the fact the clicks are irratic and arrhythmic like typing, not a regular clicking like you might expect from a faulty hard drive. The performance of the computer is fine too...
Should I be concerned?
