Strange Issue

Computer it is happening on is a Dell Precision M90 (T7200, 4GB, 128GB SSD, FX2500m, DVD drive, standard 6 cell half dead battery, Ubuntu 12.04). The issue is intermittent, and I can not duplicate it most times. The issue is that sometimes it will just freeze for a second. Happens in different programs, most recently Google Chrome. If it were in windows, I would think that it was either a memory issue, a lead-in to a BSOD, or a maleware issue, but I am pretty sure it is not a kernal panic, nor a maleware issue. Is there anything else that it could be?

Had this problem once, I had to re-burn a new copy of Ubuntu and do a fresh install. Could never figure out what it was but that fixed it.

right on man, I don't know why but around the time of the 11.04 release I would every once in a while I get a bad disc, not sure if it was the download or my burner

Well, I have never had an issue before, but on the SSD I have an issue with a GRUB install error, but when I aborted and restarted it booted right into it. Might just be something funky with the download this time.
