strange question

I have a macbook running windows 7 and I need some type of handheld device to control the arrow keys. I do film study using quicktime where I go back and forth over and over analyzing the film. I do this with the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard. But since I do this for many hours at a time it kills my back.

I use a clipboard writing constant notes with one hand so I have to keep the laptop on the table. It would be sooo much better if I had some type of handheld controller that took the place of the arrow keys, like maybe a usb device?

Is there such a thing available?

Thanks so much for your help!

Hey. Looks like no one has responded, but I'm always one of those people with "strange questions" too =) This is what I could find and I hope it helps. It looks like it would cut down on strain. I have back problems too, but it's probably just becuz 90% of my waking time is spent on the computer =)

Again, hope this helps. Let me know if you found something already or if this is kind of what you were looking for =)

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I still haven't found anything. The link you sent is for a one handed trackball, but it doesn't take the place of the arrow keys on a keyboard. Unfortunately a mouse nor a scroll wheel will do the trick.

The only thing I can think of are gaming controllers (that look like x box controllers or something similar) that plug into the usb. Unfortunately I don't know if they work outside of a game to take the place of a keyboard. Does anyone know? I have an older pc game controller from 2004 that I tried and it only works in games and you have to tell the game to use it.

Are there controllers that will control the arrow keys outside of a game, with quicktime player?

I found this converter. It converts the signals from a game controller to control what your keyboard and mouse do, if you already have a game controller. http://m.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6896037&CatId=3974

Hmm, it sounds like that does the opposite...allows you to use a computer keyboard and mouse to control your PS3. Am I reading that wrong?
