Strange skipping sound with a tick!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey fellas lately, once in a while when I listen to a music or playing, I hear my computer make a tick sound like it does when it shuts down. At the same time the music skips for a second. One time when this happened, my game just shut off and I was returned to desktop.
 
The ticking, if it's like one of the Windows sounds may indicate some event is happening in the background. It could be almost anything. Like any strange happenings, I would start off with a virus and spyware scan.

If it happens often, open Task Manager and observe any changes in processes running. If you have NAV or other software that updates automatically, check the activity logs of them, or any network traffic monitor you may have. NAV for example is a resource hog while it's doing Live Update.
