stretching wallpaper

I have thee monitors hooked up to my computer as some of you guys may know. Now I am wondering is it possible to have a wallpaper on a computer that stretches across all 3 screens? So instead of of the same image on each, it would be one image scretching across all three?

That's called "extending" not extended desktop there. You would probably have to using an image resize/reshape utility in order to see that. The same complete image being seen on all three monitors is called "cloning the desktop". Are you running ATI's Catalyst or NVidia's desktop manager or a third party software?

I'm running both since I have both x850pro and fx5500 running. And sorry about the term mix up.

Nevermind I figured it out, now i just need to find some good websites with tri monitor wallpapers :)

The idea behind the extended desktop is to bring one half of the normal desktop to a second monitor without distortion. The duplicate complete screen is what's called having a clone. The extended is what is needed there. You won't see a background "sssstttreeetcchhheedd out" in that sense. Hopefully you found some good wallpapers that go well with the extension.

For a panoramic image you would then need to have the active desktop set as well. Some of the backgrounds with special effects and animations require that the desktop is logged onto a specific site. But for a solid image extended across from one monitor to another without online or to keep resources free for other online activities the software used for multimonitors plays the role.

i have stretched pictures across my screens. it looks bad. i have also put 2 different images on my screens (i have 2 monitors). otherwise, the background image on screen 1 will just be reproduced even though it's not in clone mode.

the only way a panorama shot will work (unless multiple monitor software plays a part) is by choosing the horizontal stretch option (with ati anyway). i used to paste 2 pics together as backgrounds for that mode until i discovered how to do it another way....

With the extended desktop a large portion of the wallpaper or background image is displayed in it's original form. It simply cuts off the other portion that is to be displayed on the previous or next monitor in the multiple setup. That preserves the integrity there. The ATI tool works well for this by retaining the original form without a need to sssstttrreeetttcccchhh it out distorting the actual image. For the panorama look you would need a specific image designed for the use of dual or more monitors to see that realized.

There you go! Those are intended for wide screen and multiple monitors when extending the desktop. Without something like this you would have to stay with the solid default color options seen in the settings menu. There are a few retail items like zenview manager for creating the panoramic view. http://www.digitaltigers.com/zenview-manager.shtml

A good article to look over for creating your own custom backdrop and collection to span a multi monitor setup is seen at http://www.pcmech.com/show/video/796/5/
