stupid or cool?

Right now i have a 19 inch lcd monitor and my bday is coming up and i dont really know wat to get. Would it be worth it to get a 19 or a 20 inch crt monitor to dual screen. Would it even be worth it or would it be really slow because i dont have a dual core processor. Would it look dumb because one is an lcd and one is a crt. Should i get it for my bday or not?

Personally i think buying a CRT now is pointless...even a huge one. actually the bigger the CRT the more pointless it gets, they are so heavy. I dunno' how cool dual screen is, but I'd say get something better for your bday.

get...a....errr.....cash! and then figure out what u want.

yea that makes sense but i find that if i ask for cash i get less as if i were goin to ask for something more expensive specific. What i shoulda done is waited a month until my bday. A month ago i purchased an x800xl but wat i shoulda done is waited and had my parents chip in for a 7800gtx, but watever. A new ?, would it look stupid with a 19 inch lcd monitor and a 15 inch lcd monitor.

yes, completely and utterly ridiculous. dont do it.

And i think you shouldperhaps ask for different stuff, say a new mobo/cpu or something, i dont think dual screen is all its cracked p to be, i had it for a while, and it becam wqquite a hinderance rather than a help. I wouldnt have it again, i dont recommend you get it either.

Why, im sure it being heavy is a killer, since you need to move it, what a whole twice? once to get it there, once to trash it when you get a new one? They are much cheaper then nother types of moniters.

moving it around isnt quite a problem. i have a Dual 21" Eizo monitor setup.. and thos monsters weight 30 Kilo each :D. but i do like the setup ..
(but, i was fortunate on them,.. because i got them for free :D )

i move my monitor frequently, it's a 17" CRT. I just moved from Coppell to Frisco, and now i'm moving again in October to a new neighborhood. compared to my parent's LCD's it sucks balls, but my GF's 24" CRT is even worse. LCD's last longer, keep there clarity and sharpness/brightness longer, and have a very competitive price tag, i think it's worth it to invest in a LCD.

CRT's are better for playing video games, but other than that, I would just get a LCD, you wouldn't likely notice the difference anyway.

Your processor has nothing to do with dual monitor capability, it's your gfx. card. I have a dual m onitor setup w/ an LCD and a CRT and i like it.

i would ask for a new cpu or mobo but i am worried about the compatibility of my dell. Would i be able to get a new mobo and after that i wouldnt really have any other dell components, besides the case, and maybe the hard drive. But the dvd drive is nec and hte psu is rosewill and the video card is connect 3d? Would upgrading the mobo show dramatic improvemetns and can anyone give me a suggestion on one with 2 pci-e express slots, and i dont know wat kinda socket i have

im gonna look, that was easy it said right next to the cpu. LGA775, so wats a good upgrade from wat i have that would show a dramatic difference but is not that expensive. And when u change ur cpu do u just switch it up and turn it on or is it a big deal.

first, i think a 19" LCD is plenty, and i've tried dual screen before and its nothing too exciting, besides being able to have more open windows.

And the dual monitor doesnt come from your processor, it comes from your video card, so haveing a single or dual core cpu wont make a difference.

And since there is only 1 keyboard and mouse, you cant be playing a game and surfing the web at the same time. (as some might think)

I would get something like a better video card, better keyboard&mouse, more ram, ect.

I would go with the AMD 64 X2 3800+ over the Pentium D 3Ghz. Especially if you want to game.

Well, my 17" CRT was $200+ when i bought it, kinda pricey now. And my GF has a 21" Princeton CRT monitor and it weighs a TON!!! i'd trade both just to save on space especially for my GF (shes got a tiny desk.)

less money if you ask for cash hu? Well, just figure out the value of an item your can get, like, something worth 300$, than get that item, and reurn it, you;ll have cash. ;)
