stupid or not?

Would it be just stupid to pair up some geforce 6600's with only 128 mb onboard becauseim building a budget gamer pc and plan on maybe getting a 2nd vid card later on to use sli...would it be bettre to just get a 256 mb now or no...

also i am still debating on getting another equal gpu like a radeon all i know is im shooting for something around that range

Well, memory isn't everything you know. Important questions, what's your budget and what are the specs for the rest of the computer?
 
For the video card like $100 to $150 is my budget, my system is so far athlon 3200 might just get the 3000 tho and oc but that means better memory and so forth. Anyway here is my setup:

CPU: Athlon 64 3200

MOBO: Biostar TForce4 SLI (was looking at Chaintech VNF4 but might go with a DFI also kinda undecided here)

Video Card: MSI Lite GeForce 6600 128MB PCIe (not sure about that choice)

Memory: Corsair ValueSelect 512 MB DDR 400

PSU:Aspire Concord 450W
