stupid question

I was wondering if computer components from differant regions are all the same? for example I live in australia. If i brought a video card from the US would it be the same as one I would buy here? I wasnt sure if there are differant standards.

mebbe a little price difference... but they are baisically the same everywhere...

like a 6800 here is the same as a 6800 there etc...

yeah i wasnt sure wether the conection were the same. I have seen a motherboard that had a bar in the agp slot that was because aparently US agp cards were bigger.... I dont know so I though Id find out

Everythings universal... except maybe input volts but that can be changed by switching a button on the PSU.

I've never done it myself, but did consider it a few months ago. It turned out that by the time I factored in international postage, and import costs (e.g. GST), it was false economy. Also remember you warranty may not be valid, or you may need to ship it back to the U.S. for a warranty claim.

But yes, the components will work fine, just make sure you consider ALL the costs before making any purchases.

Who told you that? The difference in that case would most likely be the difference between AGP 2x and AGP4x/8x, rather than the difference between an Australian and an American product.
