Stylus on Tablet PC

Does anyone have any ideas on using my fingers, instead of a stylus? i just want to be able to navigate more efficiently with my tablet. And using my stylus is my only concern. Any ideas?

I use my finger to navigate on my tablet perfectly fine. Tablets with capacitive touchscreens allow a much better touch experience than resistive touch screen tablets.

how can i really tell then? im currently using a Fujitsu LifeBookT4010D Tablet PC, any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

I'm going to venture a guess that it's resistive touch screen. There's only a few tablets out there (namely the Dell Latitude XT(2)) that uses capacitive touchscreen technology. You can tell which kind it is by seeing if you actually need to push down for the touch screen to register. Capacitive touchscreen only requires you to touch the screen, but not push down to register a touch.

ive been trying to touch it but it isnt registering, also there is some sort of thick plastic on the screen which looks like it is glued on, which im not taking off, but i peeled a piece off to try and see if that part was touch sensitive, but no, so basically it cant be used to navigate with my fingers?
If your curious this is the exact one i have.. only good photos i found..

A "true" tablet will not allow you to simply touch the screen with your finger. There's essentially a sensor behind the LCD that detects the pen. Then sensors in the pen detect the pressure and what not. Others use more traditional "touch screens" which is a thin film places on top of the LCD. They do allow the use of any blunt object.

These are pretty easy to tell apart. If it's a touch screen, the stylus is typically a simple plastic stylus. No buttons or anything. If it has buttons and a removable tip, it's almost certainly a tablet.

Now this capacitive input...I'm not so familar with... I guess those HP all in one desktops have this. If you did have this method of input, you'd probably have some kind of "ad" regarding it somewhere on the computer.
