i am not sure, put your hand above the fan and see if air is being blown upwards or down...

Yeah, when I first saw this, i was like holy crap! What is this forum coming too.....

It should be blowing onto the heatsink
 
its better if it blows air through the heatsinks fins and/or spikes. more heat gets picked up from the metal to the air that way.

Some old heatsinks pull (or suck).

If this thread had been bad, i dont think it would have been in the CPU section lol.
