suggest a diagnosis

Problem:
System keeps freezing if under load.

What I have done so far:
Checked every component. I have narrowed it down to the hdd. Just today I carried out a diagnostic on the hdd which passed fine. Also done error chk and sfc /scannow - which both showed no difference to the problem.

Please suggest what I should now do to diagnose the problem? Also how do I diagnose if drivers are bad/conflicting or programs are corrupt?

Thanks in advance

Boot to safe mode and see if it freezes in there. Most of the drivers do not get activated in safe mode. Can you give us a list of your system specs.

video card
power supply
processor
memory

Will post spec up when I go to the office. What should I do in boot safe mode? And also what steps should I take to refresh the drivers without reinstalling windows and without running the risk of erasing any data or settings?
