Suggestions on a $1500 gaming build!!

Hey guys!

I need your help, i'm building myself a 2010 gaming rig. Please reply some suggestions, that would make the best 2010 build for under $1500 (AUD). I'm probs leaning towards intel, and i'm still not sure with ATI/Nvidia. And yes i no the new fermi is out.

With AU $1500 (from msy.com.au), you could probably get

Umm... 550W PSU is a really bad idea with that build.

Costs totals 1341$ (USD) with $35 MIR
Shipped to me in Milwaukee it totals 1367$ (USD)

If you go with this you may have a small conversion charge i have no idea how much that is.

Others can butcher this build but i feel its great to start i wont be able to help you anymore going on vacation tommorrow for 10 days GL :).

O.o totally forgot OS... Umm i spose you should drop the video card to a 5850 its not a major difference other than $100 in price. Or you can go with linux :)
 
Full load of the system wtih GTX 470 is something like 430W. 80% effiency 550W PSU could run systeme with no problem
And NVIDIA's official stance is a 600w PSU for GTX 480 and 550w PSU for GTX 470.

I don't understand why you are saying 550W PSU is a really bad idea with that build.

Wrong....the i5 750 DOESNT have h/t, the i7 860 does.

Also, the loaded power consumption of a GTX 470 is 419 Watts, and that was only under GPU stress, not CPU+GPU stress. I'd say your pushing yourself with a 550W corsair.

my bad. I forgot. the old 860 used to to not have ht
 
I'm gonna call BS on that. An 860 with no HT would essentially be an i5.

No, there wasnt. Not sure where you are getting your information from but intel never "recalled" the 860. Not to mention, it takes far longer than a week to produce a chip, let alone revise it for H/T and then produce it.

umm dude I don't think you understand. they had the 860 with and without ht support. intel shipped the wrong one and then quickly recalled it and switched it out with the ht support one. it didn't take them long

No they didnt, i remember when the cpu's were launched, and there were no 860's without H/T. If you want to try to make anyone believe your story(which is all it is) get yourself a reputable article showing it.
 
Are you located near any Umart stores?

I'll get you up a build from Umart anyway. I would highly recommend Umart over MSY anyway for a few reasons.

1.) You can check if the item(s) are in stock via there website. With MSY you have to call them.

2.)You can order the products online, then they will give you a code and then you can walk in store and pickup your products.

3.) I've found that there overall service is generally better. MSY is one of those ultra budget stores, so cheap that they stores are little better than a garage. There stock levels are also pretty low most of the times.
