Here are the things that I want in my laptop... Does anyone have suggestions on either A) Computer companies that can offer me what I want or B) Specific Models...

Pentium M (Centrino) 2GHz (minimum)
2GB RAM (minimum) (hopefully something that can be expanded later)
nVidia Graphics Card 6600Go or 7600Go (or higher model) 128MB (minimum)
NO onboard video
80GB HDD (minimum)
LCD Screen 15.4" (Preferred)
DVD-RW Drive (not a combo!)

also...

A Dependable Product
Good Warranty Offers

I checked out HP (which is what I own for a desktop) and their dv8000t series seems pretty good. Just sucks that the max for RAM is 2MB but that seems to be normal.

2GB minimum is kind of hard, that's thelimit on alot of laptops today.

Price range? You'll be spending alot for a dedicated gfx card of that calibur, such a big HDD, and more than 2GB of RAM capable.

I just checked out PC World's Reviews section and they have the HP dv8000z as a best buy choice... The difference between the dv8000z and the dv8000t are in the type of processor, graphics card, and a few more things. Simply put the dv8000t packs more power... but unfortunately it isn't reviewed on their site, as far as I can see, but I can imagine that if they rate the dv8000z high then the dv8000t must be good as well.

The specs I customized on the dv8000t came out to:

Intel Duo Processor (2.16 GHz)
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM
nVidia GeForce Go 7600 (256 MB)
80 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/ Double Layer Support
17" WXGA Bright View Widescreen (1680x1050)
Windows XP Home Edition
Microsoft Office 2003 Basic
3-Year Accidental Damage Protection w/ Express Repair Plan
8.1 LBS

$2,273.98

It seems to cover everything I wanted... Anything negative I should know about HP? My HP Desktop works fine, no major problems or complaints...

Seems like it meets your requirements, now are you prepared to pay that much for a laptop? I'm gussing you FOR SURE need a laptop, since that much money in a desktop could get you alot further.

Also realize that laptop will be huge (17"), and 8.1lbs is very heavy. Don't think you'll be toating it around unless you don't mind the size/weight.

HP laptops for the most part are top notch in my book. I have a Compaq V5000Z (HP & Compaq are pretty much the same now) and it's perfect.

Do I FOR SURE need a Laptop... no it's not NECESSARY to be honest, more of a WANT than a NEED. I'm gonna wait until August when the Back-To-School sales happen... hopefully HP will have some good deals :)

Well, in that case consider a desktop. Mainly because in a laptop performance is not the first priority, and it's definetly not it's strong points. If you want a gaming machine, a laptop will never suffice in comparison to a desktop (in price that is). $2000 desktop vs. a $2000 laptop, the desktop wins hands down in every category accept for portability.

You can still get a laptop, not trying to put them down, i myself am solely a laptop user, just because of that I know they are overpriced and lack real gaming abilities.
