Suggestions to Build a gaming Computer

Hi,
I am looking to build my first computer that can play games on high graphics settings at a high performance etc.

Games:
Call of Duties
Crysis
Farcry
GTA

Seeing as I cannot order from NewEgg because I live in the UK, I looked on aria.co.uk

What does that budget include? Do you need the mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers, and Windows, or just the tower itself for <£1k?

What games do you play?

Are you willing to build it yourself (it's easy), or do you need it pre-built?
 
Nice suggestions from Overclockers.
I'd go for the Titan Exodus, with an i5-760 (@4GHz, woo), HD6850, and Windows 7 Home Premium x64 it comes to £937.

The reference boards are mostly about the same quality, yeah. Basically you can just look for the one with the best mix of price and warranty.

Well they don't have the ideal options up yet (Geforce GTX 580/570, Radeon HD6950/6970), but out of what's there, the GTX 480 is the most powerful. It's also a power hog, though, and makes a ton of heat.

Just buy the amd 6950. You can overclock it to a 6970 ;)

Links don't work for me.

SSDs won't improve framerates, but they will increase general performance of the system, as things load faster, data can be accessed much quicker, and Windows boots faster. Put the OS and commonly used apps on the SSD, then use the HDD for backup storage. Check out OCZ's Vertex 2 line and Crucial's RealSSD line
 
Just a few suggestions. 2 Radeon HD 5770s in Crossfire is consistently faster than the GTX 470 for the same price and instead of a 2TB hard drive consider getting 2x1TB hard drives and set them up in a RAID configuration for much better performance.

whats all of this 'crossfire' business?

Does that mean running in tandem?
 
Yes its two video cards in one system. Multi-GPU capable motherboards are getting pretty cheap these days. Look for motherboards with more than one 'PCI Express 2.0 x16' slot. If these motherboards are more than your budget allows for, consider spending the extra money on the motherboard and going with a cheaper video card like the GTX 460 so you can save up a little more and throw another GTX 460 in later.
