I have always built my own computers but its been 4 years since my last build. I currently have an intel core 2 duo e6300 conroe 1.87 ghz, 2 gb ram, and a gforce 7600 gt video card. I do not need top of the line but would like a real nice upgrade. What are some options that will allow for multiasking such as multiple web browsing, while playing wow full graphics.

Suggestions for mobo, cpu welcome. AMD or intel???? always went intel but heard AMD is better for multitasking.

+1 need to know your budget.

But from the sounds of it, I think an intel I3 would fit the bill perfectly for you. Multitasking is intel's game now, the I3 is an extremely strong dual core with 4 threads. One core without hyperthreading would be stronger than your E6300!

So anyway, assuming you have a good enough power supply these parts will set you back slightly over $300 but you'll have a heck of an upgrade-

Motherboard (assuming your case can support full ATX motherboards, LMK if you need me to find a micro ATX board instead)

Ram-

And just in case you need a cheap but decent power supply-

Even though the gts250 card is getting older now it's still so much stronger than a 7600gt it's almost laughable. There really isn't even much to compare, completely different league yet it's only $55 now.

Very good find on a power supply 87dtna.

I think my OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS Power Supply fan is starting to have problems after two years of use. When I start my system after it has been shut down for a long time it makes noise. It is still under the 3-year warranty so I think I will see how well they honor it.

I think I will go Antec or another brand of power supply next.
