super budget gaming build

hi all, just after your thoughts as my brother has asked me to build him a super budget gaming rig. please let me know if you wouldve done anything differently as its his birthday soon and ill get him a new part if it would help

cpu - AMD Athlon x 2 250
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2
RAM - 4GB Corsair DDR3 1333mhz (1 stick)
HDD - Samsung 500GB sata
Graphics - Gainward GTS 450
PSU - Cit 550w
Case - Cit Shadow
Opticals and Accessories - DVD/RW, Card reader

the above came to around £300 so it was all in all pretty cheap

Would really recommend a different power supply. Even though it is budget, you don't wanna skimp on it. A corsair CX430 would be a good, high quality choice.
 
All is fine apart from the power supply, a Corsair CX 430 would be good. Not too sure about the case either, but you a decent case is probably not in your budget.
 
If you get 2x2gb sticks you will have better performance running in duel channel, if you dont plan on upgrading the ram (by buying another corsair stick).
 
Definitely do not skimp on the PSU, or you may see melted cables in your future. Also, I would personally go with Crucial RAM over Corsair RAM because some Crucial RAM is manufactured in the USA, but that's just me. They are both good brands.

I had a CIT 650W power supply before I got my ZS 650, and I noticed that my graphics card was not working properly (it keep losing signal) so I took out the 6-pin PCI Express power connector and noticed it had actually melted a bit! Not good... (It's not the power supply I'm using in the C2Q rig in my sig btw).
