Super low budget upgrade, need suggestions

Ok so i am 17 and really want to upgrade my computer. Right now i am playing battlefield 2 and the game runs horribly. I am looking to hopefully play on medium settings with no lag. My internet is really fast, its just my computer that is chugging along.

I currently have a

KT266a Pro2-U motherboard
with amd 2200+
512 mb ram
geforce FX 5200.

I was thinking about upgrading to a
geforce 6600 GT agp card which i found for $100 and then trying to locate a faster processor. I really have no idea what would be my best bet to upgrade and i don't really know if i need to upgrade my mother board or not. All the help is much appriciated. Any suggetions on what to look for and upgrade would be awsome.
 
Yeah, that computer really needs some upgrades... I wouldn't invest too much into it though. I think a new processor would almost be a waste. A GPU should really help out a lot, but AGP cards are quite pricey...

I know the 6600GT will be a great improvement over the 5200. Perhaps you could get that for the time being and start saving for a new computer :P
 
thanks, i am really just wanting to run my battlefield 2 online with no lag, right now i don't know if its my processor or my video card or my ram that is chugging along. so i'll try and upgrade to that video card and then maybe grab some more ram and just stick with this processor
