Had anyone use this motherboard before, if so what memory did you use to get it to boot up. This particular motherboard is super picky on the memory brand.

Phy,

You were right about installing three memory sticks all at the same time. Well I went out to purchase three 4gb of memory stick and right now it's only see 4gb, it cannot see the other 8gb. Only thing I can think of is that the other memory slots are dead/shot. Any suggestions?

If you are running a 32 bit OS, it will only see 4gb of memory, you will need to install a 64 bit operating system to utilize all the memory.

johnb35,

I have Windows 7 64 bit Professional install. It sees only 4g in the operating system and as well in bios too, for some reason its not detecting the other two 4gb memory sticks.

Are they in the right channel? I don't remember what that board looked like but most have 2 colors for the slots, put each stick in the same color slot. If you already did that it might be a bios setting that needs tweaked, but I don't know anything else about that.

Yep they're in the right channel. I did some read up on memory remapping and thought maybe there were some dimm slots were disable and was hoping that I can reenable it so it could read the memory sticks. Also in the manual it says:

Single Rank UDIMMs 12GB (6x2gb) and Dual Rank UDIMMs 24GB (6x4gb). Does this mean that if I wanted only 12gb of ram on this system..I would have to opt for 6 (2gb) of memory stick so that the bios can read 12gb of ram? Because right now I only have 3 (4gb) ram sticks

Well i've decided that I'm gonna return this supermicro board because it has given me so many headaches and its not worth to keep.

I'm thinking of getting a gigabyte motherboard and a tripe channel memory kit. Let me know if these two will work. I already check if the memory is on the support list and it is. By the way I have a i7 960 3.2ghz 1366 socket. I kinda of wish I can get multiple of 4's 4gb of memory but afraid that I might run into the same problems that i did with the supermicro motherboard
