I have an old school camera it uses floppies for data and they have pictures of weddings, outings, vacations etc and I have 2 old computers one from 1998 a bad psu and one from 2001 bad hdd is there anyway I could swap parts between the 2 to get one of them working again like swap the psu's I already tried swapping hdds it resulted in a blue screen and by the way the 1998 hard drive originally had Windows 98 but now has XP on it and theres nothing wrong with it just simply need to get these old archaic computers to work for a couple days again not working for ever I love old computers but these ones are tempting me

XP will only work on the Motherboard it was installed on, but doesn't care about the Power Supply, so as long as the working Power Supply has the right connections you can swap it.

I'm not sure I am understanding you, but if all you need to do is get data off old 1.44MB (?? - you don't say what size) floppy discs, then why not just get an external USB Floppy Drive (FD) and use THAT to read the discs? ANY PC (even the latest) with a USB port will work with it.

You should be able to get one for about $20 but I saw 2 different FDs (one is a Teac) on Amazon, both of them going for $11.11.

Google "external USB floppy drive" and see what comes up.

Good luck...

I agree with cloudcroft, you might wanna try a external FD drive. But that doesnt solve the problem that you dont have a working PC.

You can change hard drives with Xp OS with any other motherboards quite easy....
All you have to do before the swap is to change the hard drive controller drivers back to windows Generic standard and the hard drive will work with any motherboard....

JaredC.,

As I said, I may not be understanding the OP...and, I assumed (had to since it wasn't clear) that he wanted at least ONE of the old PCs to work so he could use their FD drives to get that data off those floppy discs.

So that's why I brought up the external FD drive: No need to hassle getting old PCs up and running...an external FD drive on a working (current) PC would be much easier.
