Swapping Out CD Drives

It is possible to swap out cd drives from 2 different computers? I have a hp desktop that had comunication problems but the cd drive worked. The computer I currently am using, another hp desktop, just had the cd drive go out. They are 2 different models, I know the cd drives probably can not be swapped out but I am going to ask anyway. The information on each is below.

One is HP Pavilion 6645C the other is HP Pavilion a305w

I greatly appreciate any information.
 
All you can do is try, without knowing if either of them use a front faceplate on the drive itself. It looks like you may be able to just switch them out though.
