:::Switch monitor inputs between a vga dvi plug:::

Okay,
-So I have a Samsung SyncMaster 2033 monitor.
This monitor happens to have a Vga and Dvi cord coming out of the back of it.

-I have been using my PC hooked up to this monitor through the Vga plug ever since I owned it.

-now I'm taking this old PC I used to have and want to put it to use.
I've noticed on the back of it I can plug a Vga or Dvi cord in it.

-I want to keep my computer that I've been having hooked up to the Vga cord and hook up this older PC that I want to use to the Dvi cord.
This way I can easily switch between pc's without unplugging cords.

Thing is,
1) Is this possible?
If not, Do I have another option?
2) How can I switch between these two inputs? Should it be in the monitor setting?

Thank you!

If i am reading your post correctly you basically want to connect 2 computers to single monitor using 2 different connections ?

Then have both computers on at the same time and quickly switch between the 2 ?

There should be a button on your monitor that switches between DVI and VGA. If there isn't, it'll just stay on whatever the monitors wants first, DVI or VGA.

If this is the case, look at KVM switches.

Also, use the DVI for your main computer. Better than VGA.

jamesd1981 Yes, thats exactly what I want to do.

claptonman I've looked through the menu and around the monitor, couldnt find any button that would switch them... unfortunately my main computer doesnt have a DVI output.

Guess I'l have to just switch between cords in the back of the monitor while I'l have both attached to each PC.

If anybody is familiar with my monitor and knows how to do it let me know. or if anybody has a better solution.

Thank you!
