Switch to Vista? Stick with XP?

In building a new computer, i am faced with a tough decision. Is it worth it to switch to Vista? I have been using XP forever, and really like it, and the horrid reports on Vista are everywhere. I really need to know if Vista is worth my time. I will mostly be doing gaming, but school will take up a lot of the computer time as well. Another question is, if i do stay with XP, is there a way to transfer XP from my old motherboard to my new one, or will i have to buy a new CD (my XP CD has disappeared).

well you cant transfer xp over. so if you have to buy a new one. i would go with vista. Its very stable and all the reports were for the beta where it was very unstable. but now it is a great OS. If you already have xp, then it may not be worth buying a new os just because xp to vista it is not worth spending the money.
