Switching data between Hard drives

I am adding a second hard drive to my computer because the first is full - it's an older computer. I want to put everything I can on the new one. Is it as simple as dragging it all over, even the OS?
 
While many files you can drag and drop programs and OS you can not. I would suggest looking in to a program that will allow you to copy an image of the old hard drive to the new one. I have often used the program ghost to due this.
 
Check out Acronis True Image. It will copy everything over to the enw drive, even the OS, and it will partition the newer drive to use all of its space.
