Switching from mac to pc

ok so I'm making the switcharoo. Ive owned pc's many years ago and I remember them often getting some sort of virus, malware, slowing down etc. after some time.

Im not a big web surfer so I don't go to any obscure websites at all.

Is there a consensus to the best virus/malware software out there? Thanks a lot!
 
For the most part as long as you are safe about where you surf and making sure you don't open any suspicious emails then your fine. Running the free version of Avast and an on demand malware scanner such as Malwarebytes is suficient. You may also want to use browser addons like adblock and WOT.

https://www.mywot.com/ Lets you know what pages on a search is safe or not or will stop you from going to a bad webpage if you click on a link.
