switching hard drives

I am trying to switch a hard drive from a dell inspiron 531s with windows vista to another dell computer (dimension E520) that had windows xp in it. I keep getting the check for errors screen and it will not boot. Any help on this will be appreciated. Thanks.

You can't swap a hard drive from one computer to another without wiping it and reinstalling Windows. The only time you can do that is if the other computer has the same hardware (which these two computers do not).
