Switching Video Card

Video hardware error; caused windows to reboot.

Hey everyone.

I woke up this morning to it saying that windows recovered from an unexpected shutdown which it said the cause was "bluescreen". Sooo I'm guessing it's having problems because of the video card since it seem to be fine before I installed it. There is a 30 day return policy on it thanks to newegg so I think I'm going to switch it out for a different video card if problems continue...

Yea I changed my mind about switching cards, I want to figure out what went wrong now.

The version for CCC says it is:
Version 2008.0930.2229.38458

And when I check the driver for my video card under device manager it says:
Driver Date: 9/30/2008
Driver Version: 8.542.0.0

I should probably find an updated driver, eh?

I am not sure if this has anything to do w/ it but, you power supply is very underpowered for that card...
300 watts just won't cut it, say 70% eff. probably is something like that.
So around 210-230 watts. That card itself uses over 80watts, so that psu is on 75%+ usage all the time, not too good.

Go for a 4670, it doesn't require an extra 6 pin connector, or molex if that is what yo have. It uses half of what the 4830 uses at peak. And this is a good card too, it is equivalent to the 9600GT, but uses a lot less power, great for you computer.

oh no, I should have mentioned I replaced the power supply.
