Symantec Keeps Searching for CD

hey all, recently i tried to renew my subscription to LiveUpdate and certain steps made it necessary to delete older components of the anti-virus software. the renew i was trying to accomplish didn't work, so i got rid of it and got a refund for my troubles. now, though, everytime i right-click on a desktop icon or file/file folder, my computer launches windows installer, tries to configure Symantec AntiVirus and finally ends with a message saying that the feature i am trying to use is on a cd-rom or other removable disk that is not available, prompting me to insert a Symantec Antivirus disk. the problem is i don't have the disk used for installation and after cancelling, i receive Error 1706. sorry for making this so long, but i just want to be able to right-click on things without having to keep pressing cancel whenever the prompts pop up. can anyone help out? thanks

I think the Norton Removal Tool is the best method for now.

oh yeah how did i miss the part , well he only has to uninstall it.
the tool will help only if the product won't uninstall, you force it off your system with it

i see, so i can't fix the problem without uninstalling the entire thing and then re-installing it...guess i need to buy a new pack then. thanks for your help everyone, and thanks for the link "evilfantasy"

Did you try the removal tool?

You can post a Hijackthis log and we can see if it is showing in that and be able to give directions on how to remove it.
