System Built. NO LIFE.

I just love you guyz...............solved those 2 problems.

Like you said, I tried the MOTHERBOARD CD and the LAN drivers did the trick for the internet.
And also, 32 bit o/s reserves some of the RAM for hardware...for me thats okay, as long as the hardware gets enough memory(!?!) to run smoothly.

Anyways, the internet is working fine; computer applications are working fine, hard disks are being detected and all.

Replacing motheboard would take long and would be a hassle. So can I just continue with this.

I mean...........does NO problem being detected right now mean no problem in the future. The only thing I can see there is a single crack on a single chip. That problem is not gonna spread like a VIRUS to the other parts. I don't want my expensive RAM, HARD DISKS etc to be threatened :)

Thats a crack, i don't see how the thing is working. But send that picture to gigabyte :D. Ehh but i realy think you should do a rma :(... see that burnt place on top of the cracked chip? i have seen many fried chips and thats exactly what they look like. I would say it controls something that your not using at the moment, maybe a fan connector. no way of knowing really...

If it were me? I would return it. Suck up the time spent returning and replacing it as time well spent on learning a valuable lesson. Don't plug stuff in if you don't know what it is.

Yeah i would rma it. Don't feel bad. I fried my last hard drive on my computer, it was only like 2 weels old and got a replacement :D

Hi guyz.......

after using for a few days, the computer is working flawlessly. Ofcourse the chip did fry; but hopefully it is just the additional fan thingy.

Against expert advice here, I'm going to keep this motherboard. I need a lot of work to be done (including printing, lecture hearing etc) right away (am in univ). Shipping to US (from canada)...to and fro...then all the formalities and testing and everything........is gonna be almost a month before I get a replacement. So I am gonna stick to my motherboard.

I still have a 3 year warranty on it (1 year labor and parts). Somewhere down the road, if I need to use it, I will. Maybe it (returning --- rma) won't be as easy as now, but still....

I know you guyz gave me lots of helpful opinions and most of them helped very much. Really appreciate. Thanking everyone who posted in this thread :D
