system fan has 3 wires yellow, black, green
does anyone know which does what ?
i'm askin because i have a dead PSU and i want to take off it's fan and use it somewhere else
but it has only two wires Red,Black that's +,-
can i connect the PSU fan as a sys fan to my MoBo ?

the third while for normal case fans is for rpm detectment. I guess you can try to plug it into the mobo and see if it fits.

You would be better off generally using a replacement fan due to the standards seen in mounting plus matching the proper voltage along with a lack of the connector to plug it in.

You would need a speed controller along with the correct plug for the board since the supply was equipped with that for cooling when heavier loads were placed on it. Without that the fan speed wouldn't be regulated.

If you just connect the +5V and ground wires it'll spin at max speed all the time. Either plug the green wire or regulate the voltage given to the fan with some sort of trimpot.

On some model boards you can set the speed for a regualr case fan. But even with a variable resistor you may still see other issues like custom mounting depending whether or not it is a standard size like 80mm or 120mm.
Since you will probably be taking the plug off of the old fan leave some extra length to the wires for addition of a variable resistor as well as splicing for the psu fan. The resistor will also have to rated for the amperage for the 5v feed in order to hold up.
