Hey guys,

Recently i have noticed that when my system starts up, the screen that tells you what kind of MB you have stays up for a good 1 1/2 minutes to 2 minutes. This never happen and it hangs up. I have had no hardware or software changes to warrant this happening.

Logitech g7 wireless mouse
Logitech keyboard
Maxtor 300gb Serial ATA HDD
4 gig pc3200 dual channel memory
Lite on 18x dvd burner
Athlon x2 64, 4200+
Windows x64

Is the Logitech keyboard seen in your sig a cordless as well as the mouse? How about any other devices attached? The MB screen is the post screen where all hardwares like the board and drives installed are listed and connections are tested at that time. Your boot sector could have also been effected somewhat delaying the initial startup of Windows.

I’m assuming this is new and it didn’t previously hang for one-and-a-half- to two-minutes when booting up and going through memory checks and the like during start up? In that case, if you haven’t changed anything, to suddenly slow down by that amount of time is odd indeed and most likely not a good sign. If it was booting faster with your wireless keyboard for a month before, why mysteriously slow down all of the sudden? A hard drive died on me in a similar fashion, the boot times started taking longer to the point where it was no longer able to complete its memory checks and started displaying a message that, after a quick bit of googling, revealed my hard drive was indeed on its last legs.

Still, I’m not sure what’s causing your lag time in the boot sequence. Hopefully it’s something minor and you can get to the root of it.
